The 21 Day Gratitude Journey, Day 19

NEW TO THE GRATITUDE JOURNEY?  HERE’S A QUICK OVERVIEW!

JOIN IN WHENEVER YOU’RE READY…

HERE’S THE PLAN:

I’LL SPEND THE NEXT 21 DAYS FOCUSED ON GRATITUDE. EACH DAY I WILL FOCUS ON ONE ASPECT & EACH DAY I WILL SHOW MY GRATITUDE & APPRECIATION TO SOMEONE NEW.

And what I’d love is for you to join me. Tell your friends, your family, co-workers, anyone.

I honestly feel that if we can embrace gratitude & all the goodness in the world, then we’ll be able to make amazing & far reaching positive change.

We are all capable of amazing things & it’ll take far less effort than you may think!

Gratitude is step one.

Assignment for Day 19:

1. How do you show your gratitude towards those times when you haven’t gotten what you’ve wanted or what you’ve asked for?

On a normal day to day, we may hope or pray for certain things to happen or for certain things to be given to us.  Sometimes, it happens, sometimes, it doesn’t.  Let’s focus on those times when it doesn’t happen.  How can we be grateful for those moments?

It may appear that life isn’t fair or that we deserve something or even that we’re entitled to something, but how are we to know what is in our best interests outside of the “want”, “need” or “gotta haves”?

Is there something that we’re missing?  Is there something greater to gain?  Or is there something that we need to be learning?  Taking all of these into consideration, how can you be grateful for these moments when things don’t turn out the way you’ve wanted?

Spend a few minutes thinking & writing. Choose one place to collect your thoughts for our 21 day journey.

2. Choose your nineteenth person to show gratitude to. You are free to speak your gratitude, write your gratitude or show your gratitude.

Any way that feels the most appropriate, that is how you need to do it.

Be honest & open. You are doing everything right!

Please feel free to share your thoughts below. Ask for help, guidance or support.

This reminds me of a song by Garth Brooks called “Unanswered Prayers”. I really believe that every time something doesn’t happen that we really wanted to happen, that it wasn’t meant to happen- that there’s something greater out there for us.

Maybe this is just my way of rationalizing not getting what I want ALL the time, but it’s a healthy way of looking at things.

When I really let go and allow myself to be grateful for not always getting what I want, it allows me the space to be grateful for what I already have. When I can do that, it opens up the space for me to receive what I really, really want.

    Amazing how that happens.

But I’m really grateful that I haven’t always gotten what I’ve wanted because looking back, I really ended up not wanting those things at all.

Thank God for unanswered prayers for sure.
