The 21 Day Gratitude Journey, Day 3

New to the Gratitude Journey?  Here’s a quick overview!

Join in whenever you’re ready…

Here’s the plan:

I’ll spend the next 21 days focused on gratitude. Each day I will focus on one aspect & each day I will show my gratitude & appreciation to someone new.

And what I’d love is for you to join me. Tell your friends, your family, co-workers, anyone.

I honestly feel that if we can embrace gratitude & all the goodness in the world, then we’ll be able to make amazing & far reaching positive change.

We are all capable of amazing things & it’ll take far less effort than you may think!

Gratitude is step one.

Assignment for Day 3:

1. How does gratitude sound in your life? Meaning, is gratitude something you find in words, in music or in less obvious ways?

Is gratitude something that is something that is normally spoken to you or do you find you’re usually the one doing the talking?

Better yet, do  you hear it often enough?

What are some ways that you can make gratitude more of a “heard” thing in your life, whether you are on the giving or receiving end?

Spend a few minutes thinking & writing. Choose one place to collect your thoughts for our 21 day journey.

2. Choose your third person to show gratitude to. You are free to speak your gratitude, write your gratitude or show your gratitude.

Any way that feels the most appropriate, that is how you need to do it.

Be honest & open. You are doing everything right!

Please feel free to share your thoughts below. Ask for help, guidance or support.

We’re all in this together

This is a great thing you are doing, Annette, by sharing your gratitude journey with others. I’m joining in a few days late, but I had a great experience with gratitude yesterday. One of my cats (Snapple) had been missing for 4 days (not normal at all). I had about given up hope, deciding something terrible had happened. Then, yesterday, while staring into the woods thinking about her, I decided to focus on gratitude for her and for her return. For the rest of the day and evening whenever a negative thought worked its way in, I switched to
I’m so grateful that Snapple is coming home safely.” Then right at 10 last night, there she was at the door, anxious for attention and food!

I think feeling gratitude can have major impact in our life even before (or without) ever directly expressing it to the people involved. Of course, in most cases, expressing it is even better – but the hardest, most important work is already done – actually feeling and experiencing the gratitude within ourselves. Otherwise, we may just be expressing appreciation. Which is important to do – it just isn’t the same as true gratitude.

How do I “hear” gratitude? In nature, for sure. But my favorite music helps (and it’s more accessible than the ocean.

That is so great Tami! Thanks for joining!
I’m really seeing all the benefits of having an active role in the way gratitude is in my life so I’m thrilled to be able to do what I can for everyone else.

Thanks for sharing your story about Snapple. There is something very special about pets and something very amazing when we raise our vibration to one of gratitude and away from sadness, fear or anxiety.

Keep going! I totally agree that just feeling gratitude and appreciation is important, but I also love the ripple effect of sharing. I do understand that some people are not at the point where verbalizing it is feasible, but even just thinking it and sending out gratitude vibes is so powerful!

For me, I hear gratitude fairly infrequently. That is, maybe, part of the reason why I felt like this 21 day journey was so important.

I am working on getting myself more accustomed to show my own gratitude, especially to the people who have given me so much of themselves.

I hear gratitude in their voices, in laughter, in music and, sometimes, in the sound of grateful licks from my dog.

I’m learning to speak my truth, I have been embracing it more over the last 2 months. As much as I’ve grown, gratitude is one area that I’d like to work more deeply on.
